Mrs. Rayan's Middle School Science

Welcome Back Middle School!

Dear Parents and Students:

I trust you all had a wonderful summer break and are looking forward to our upcoming new year.  This summer gave me a chance to look through all of the wonderful things accomplished last year by our middle school.  This year should be something great!  We will be covering a lot of material to better perpare our 8th graders for high school and our 7th graders for 8th grade.  This year will go by fast and a lot needs to be accomplished so communication needs to be something we do regularly inorder to maintain the success of our students.

7th Grade Classrooms:

1)  All students will be graded on their science notebook.  Everything will be complete in the science notebook and grades will be put directly in the science notebook.  Every class period students will need to complete the bellwork and vocabulary word provided on the board and will be graded ontheir work they day before.  We will also be tracking their assessemnts (class related and benchmark related) in class every time there is an assessment graded.

2)  7th graders will be doing many different projects that include self research, group work, and they will then perform a role as an educator to the class.  The 7th graders main unit topics are astronomy (planets, stars, and the earth), minerals and rocks, scientists, and environmental science.  Students will be required to complete a science fair project and will be due in January.

8th Grade Classrooms:
